Nous avons enfin revu Jacques! Les filles et moi sommes allées faire une petite visite à notre voisin juste après l’école. Nous avions un pot de confiture de mûres à lui remettre. Nous étions très fières de lui offrir ce pot, car en général c’est lui qui nous offre sa confiture faite maison. Et nous étions très heureuses de le revoir après si longtemps. Jacques a passé une bonne partie du mois d’août avec ses petits-enfants en Normandie. La maison qu’il avait louée avait un beau verger. Il a pu ramasser des mirabelles et en faire des confitures. Il nous en a offert un pot. C’était donc un échange de pots de confiture! Lorsque nous sommes arrivées, Jacques venait juste de raccrocher son téléphone. Il l’avait encore à la main. Je me suis souvenue qu’il m’avait un jour dit que son téléphone clignotait sans cesse depuis deux ans. Nous avons le même appareil.
— Ton téléphone clignote toujours? lui ai-je demandé. — Oui, depuis deux ans! — Tu permets que j’y jette un œil? — Je t’en prie! — Voilà, il ne clignote plus. — Mais comment as-tu fait?Je lui ai expliqué la petite manœuvre à faire pour consulter les appels absents dans le journal du téléphone. Et voilà, c’est ce qui s’appelle faire d’une pierre deux coups!
